History of Maurice Lacroix

Maurice Lacroix began as part of the Desco von Schulthess firm in Zurich. Desco was a merchant of luxury silk scarves and ties. Later, the company became a distributor of luxury watch brands.

In 1961, Desco acquired an assembly plant in Saignelégier, in the Swiss canton of Jura, where it began producing private-label watches for third parties. The first watch to bear the Maurice Lacroix name was launched in 1975.

In 1980, Maurice focused on producing his own branded watches.
